Vizio stand leg screws too short? Read this first.

You just received the replacement screws for your Vizio TV legs that got lost in the move and you're trying to attach them to the TV when you realize that the screws are too short. What happened? This is a pretty common scenario and there's a very simple solution that might make you feel a bit embarrassed to have asked the question in the first place.

The problem

screws Common Vizio stand legs / feet. You probably tried to hold the legs against the holes on the back of the TV and insert the screws, but they were not nearly long enough to reach inside the TV to engage the threads. Or you notice that the holes in the legs themselves are much larger than the screws you got. That's because first, the legs do not attach to the back of the TV, and the screws do not thread into the holes in the legs. Then where do they go? I'm happy you asked, read on!
The legs pictured are from an E65-E1, and you can find screws for those here: ReplacementScrews Stand Screws for Vizio E65-E1.

The solution

screws Slot with screw holes. The legs actually insert from the bottom, into small holes that are shaped perfectly to fit the legs. Most TV's do attach their stand from the back, so the confusion is not unwarranted. Vizio's solution is actually a pretty clever one. By having a slot with a metal bracket inside you don't have to rely on the screws to carry the weight of the TV, but the legs rest on the inside of the TV and the screws only prevent the legs from falling out when moved. If you look carefully on the photo to the right you can see this slot, and if you look inside the slot you can see the two threaded holes on the metal bracket. This is where the screws you got should go. Once you have inserted the legs into the slots, then you insert the screws from the back - through the holes in the legs and into the pre-threaded holes in the metal bracket. Now you're done and can finally stop having the TV lean against the wall.

Final Words

We at ReplacementScrews get a lot of questions regarding the above and we hope that this little post helped you solve your TV leg installation issue. One thing we would also like to mention is that TVs are heavy and the screes are very fragile. Make sure you have someone to help you lift your TV if it's anything larger than a 40" screen.
